  • Dolmabahçe Palace
  • Çırağan Palace
  • Ortaköy Mosque
  • The first Bosphorus Bridge
  • Rumeli Hisarı fortress (route permitting)
  • Maiden's Tower on the return

  • Solo travellers and couples — you pay per seat, not for the boat
  • A first evening in Istanbul — a live guide names what you are passing
  • Two hours, so the evening still has room for dinner afterwards
  • Small groups up to twenty on one shared deck
  • Anyone who wants the golden hour without a dinner programme

Finding the pier

Karaköy Pier, near Balıkçı Kemal, Istanbul. It is a working pier in the middle of the city rather than a terminal, so the last two minutes are the part worth reading.

T1 tram
Get off at Karaköy. The pier is four minutes along the water, past the ferry terminal.
Marmaray
Sirkeci, then across Galata Bridge on foot — about twelve minutes, and the boats are in view the whole way.
From İstiklal
The Tünel funicular drops you at Karaköy in ninety seconds, which beats the walk down the hill.
By car or taxi
Ask for Karaköy Meydanı. The last stretch to the water is pedestrian, so you are set down a minute short of the pier.
Open the pier on the map

We cast off at the departure time, not when the last guest arrives — the light is the one thing we cannot hold.

From the deck

Shared sail vs private yacht — which to pick?

The shared cruise is the easiest, lowest-cost way to catch the sunset — you join a scheduled sail from €30 per person. If you would rather have the deck to yourselves, a private sunset yacht (from €220) gives your group the whole boat. Choose private for a sunset proposal or an intimate occasion; choose shared if you simply want two beautiful hours on the water. New to the idea? Start with our Bosphorus sunset cruise guide.
