What you sail past · Who it suits

What you sail past

  • Dolmabahçe Palace
  • Çırağan Palace
  • Ortaköy Mosque
  • The first Bosphorus Bridge
  • Maiden's Tower on the return

Marine traffic and the sailing window decide where the boat turns — the route section says how.

Who it suits

  • Solo travellers and couples — you pay per seat, not for the boat
  • A first evening in Istanbul — a live guide names what you are passing
  • Two hours, so the evening still has room for dinner afterwards
  • Small groups up to twenty on one shared deck
  • Anyone who wants the golden hour without a dinner programme

How much is the shared sunset cruise, and what does it include?

The shared Bosphorus sunset cruise with Vesper is €34 per person without wine and €40 with a wine package, dropping to €30 and €35 from Monday to Thursday. Both are the same 2-hour golden-hour sail; only the wine differs. The cruise boards at Karaköy Pier, near Balıkçı Kemal. Current boarding is 15:45 for a 16:00 departure, then the route runs past Dolmabahçe Palace, Çırağan Palace, Ortaköy and under the first (15 July Martyrs) Bosphorus Bridge, with Maiden's Tower on the way back (the captain picks the turning point by traffic and light). A live English-speaking guide narrates the landmarks, and hot and cold drinks plus a snack platter come aboard. We can also pick you up from other Istanbul piers — Kadıköy, Balat or Karaköy — on request, and we time the sail to the real sunset so the light is never left to chance. Vesper is operated by MERYEM YILDIZ TURIZM SEYAHAT ACENTASI, TÜRSAB A Group licence #14316. Book instantly online or on WhatsApp.

How much is the shared sunset cruise?

The shared Vesper sunset cruise is €34 per person without wine, dropping to €30 from Monday to Thursday. Prefer to raise a glass at golden hour? The with-wine package is €40, or €35 on those same days. Both are the full 2-hour sail with a live guide, drinks and snacks — the only difference is the wine. You book instantly online and pay on board, or confirm your spot on WhatsApp first.

What time does it board, and where?

The shared sailing currently boards at 15:45 at Karaköy Pier near Balıkçı Kemal and departs at 16:00. The cruise lasts about 2 hours and returns through blue hour. The operating time follows the evening light, so always use the time shown in the planner for the date you pick.

Live guide · drinks · snacks

What's included on the two-hour sail?

Every shared departure includes the full route past Dolmabahçe Palace, Çırağan Palace, Ortaköy and under the first (15 July Martyrs) Bosphorus Bridge, with Maiden's Tower on the way back (the captain picks the turning point by traffic and light), with a live English-speaking guide narrating the landmarks. Hot drinks (tea, Turkish coffee), cold drinks and a snack platter come aboard. Add the wine package, a birthday cake, a photographer or special-occasion touches on request — just tell us what you are planning when you book.

When is the best time to go?

Use the boarding time shown for your selected date. At the moment, arrive by 15:45 for the 16:00 departure. In November, Istanbul's sunset falls around 17:46 (mid-month), so on the 16:00 sail the sun goes down while you are on the water and you are back at Karaköy about 18:00, through blue hour. Because the operating time follows the evening light, it moves earlier as the season turns, and the planner always shows the time confirmed for your date.

Finding the pier

A working pier in the middle of the city rather than a terminal — the last two minutes are the part worth reading.

T1 tram
Get off at Karaköy. The pier is four minutes along the water, past the ferry terminal.
Marmaray
Sirkeci, then across Galata Bridge on foot — about twelve minutes, and the boats are in view the whole way.
From İstiklal
The Tünel funicular drops you at Karaköy in ninety seconds, which beats the walk down the hill.
By car or taxi
Ask for Karaköy Meydanı. The last stretch to the water is pedestrian, so you are set down a minute short of the pier.
Open the pier on the map

We cast off at the departure time, not when the last guest arrives — the light is the one thing we cannot hold.

From the deck

Two hours on the water as the strait turns to amber.

Shared sail vs private yacht — which to pick?

The shared cruise is the easiest, lowest-cost way to catch the sunset — you join a scheduled sail from €30 per person. If you would rather have the deck to yourselves, a private sunset yacht (from €220) gives your group the whole boat. Choose private for a sunset proposal or an intimate occasion; choose shared if you simply want two beautiful hours on the water. New to the idea? Start with our Bosphorus sunset cruise guide. Our write-up on shared vs private sunset cruise compares the two, and the best time for a Bosphorus sunset cruise explains how the light and boarding time shift through the year.

If you take the whole boat instead, here is every yacht, smallest first: the Amber Couples Yacht (up to 12, €220 for 2 hours); the Boutique Sunset Yacht (up to 12, €240 for 2 hours); the Private Sunset Yacht · 15 Guests (up to 15, €260 for 2 hours); the Twilight Family Yacht (up to 15, €320 for 2 hours); the Golden Hour Group Yacht (up to 40, €380 for 1–15 guests, €500 for 16–40, 2 hours); the Skyline Event Yacht (up to 90, quoted to the brief, 4-hour minimum); and the Horizon Grand Yacht (up to 150, quoted to the brief, 2-hour minimum). On the priced yachts the captain, crew and fuel are in that price; the event yachts are quoted with your brief. All of them board at Karaköy Pier unless you ask for another pier.
